Every year for my birthday I try to find a cool restaurant that has great food and ambiance. I came across Tony at the J’s in Greenwich , CT. It is located inside a boutique hotel in Greenwich. There is free valet parking. Reservations can be made on Opentable. Service is excellent and during our stay Tony himself came around asking trivia questions which made it fun! The garden area patio dining is gorgeous. Lush greenery everywhere 🌱 it makes you feel like you are on vacation. We started off with cocktails and then ordered scallops off of the specials. Our waitress called them decadent, and that was what they were they literally melted in your mouth. It came with a side of risotto in a Cream sauce that had me and my girls scraping the plate. For our entrees the three of us got The lobster 🦞 special. A 21/2 pound 🦞 in butter, oils, and herbs 🤤. We shared truffle fries 🍟 too! I would def go back I hear their steaks and pasta are also amazing.
Captain Lawrence Brewery in Elmsford, NY is stepping up their game with a brand spanking new beer hall and distillery. The new beer hall is much more spacious than it’s prior warehouse quarters.
The distillery is not up and running yet. However, the new Beer Hall is in full swing. I am a big fan of Captain Lawrence Beer and I can be a bit of a beer snob. A few of my favs are Galactic Fog, Hylo, and Red Stars and Strikes.
There is a new menu. A wide range of food to enjoy. Anything from tacos, BBQ, wings, oysters, and truffle fries. The pizza is amazing! That dough tho…
They have always had a great Beer Garden that has outdoor seating along with bean bag toss (corn hole), boccee ball, and jenga. There are tons of picnic tables so there is ample seating inside and out. They have trivia on Wednesday nights, and live music on the weekends. They also give 30 min tours on Saturday and Sunday at 1:00pm and 2:00pm for only $7 pp, $2 dollars for a tasting glass that you get to keep.
They are extremely kid/baby friendly, so you don’t have to worry about finding a sitter. I already brought Emma and we both met new friends. However, leave the puppies at home they are no longer pet friendly.
Before you leave you can also pick up a 6 pack of a limited edition beer such as Cookie Puss Birthday Beer Milk Shake IPA or Soft Swerve for you to enjoy at home.

The Dekalb Market in Brooklyn is super cool. It’s kind of like an indoor Smorgasbord.
As soon as you take the escalator down you see the famous Kats Deli. 😍<< ey also have a Fortina located in the Hall. Lots of choices so I had to narrow down my options. After a quick walk around this is what I chose: Potato Pierogis @ the Pierogi Boys topped with sour cream bacon and scallions ..cuz everything is better with bacon. 🥓 I've had my share of pierogis since my mom is full blown polish. But, these pierogis are super fresh and in a league of their own. Boiled to perfection. 👌 Icecream from Ample Hills Creamery 🍦 ooooey gooooey buttercake deliciousness. The word butter cake says it all! I was so tempted to take home a pint of it. However, we had a long drive home and I was afraid it would melt. Arepas de choclo from Arepa Lady came highly recommended. This was the main reason I stopped to try one. The corn tortilla and cheese melts in your 👄 mouth! Extremely filling ! Staff was super helpful and friendly!
Great no thrills lil speak easy fast food joint inside the upscale Le Parker Meridian in New York City. Cash Only. You seat yourself .. ya gotta be quick to snag a table here! Lines are typically long and didn’t move as quick as I thought it woul.
Burger was super juicy and tastey ..I wanted another but didn’t want to be greedy.. French fries were also fresh and delicious. This place is zagat rated and comes up on a bunch of lists as best burger in NYC. Is it the best burger I ever had ? Nah. but it was up there and I loved to look around at all the old posters and scribbling on the walls.

My love for good BBQ extends beyond the typical NY BBQ season. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, parks and backyards all across the state are full with hungry families wanting their fill of smoky good food. Luckily, in Portchester there is a BBQ joint that will satisfy your hunger all year round. It is named “Q Authentic Barbeque Restaurant & Bar”. This place does come across as a typical hole in the wall style BBQ joint. However, it is a nice restaurant with plenty of seating and a full bar for you to enjoy your meal. I have tried several items on their menu. The stand-outs for me personally are the Chicken Wings and the Grilled Chicken Club sandwich.
Also, I have rated the items that I have tried on a scale of 1 to 5.
The ribs – 4/5
Collard greens- 4/5
Corn bread- 4/5
French fries- 4/5
Chicken wings- 5/5
Grilled Chicken Club-5/5
House Smoke Sausage- 4/5

Lusardi’s in Larchmont, NY. My bae actually picked this one out(one of the many reasons why he’s bae). I am eager to try the Orrechiete Baresi and Risotto Porcini😋

Mario Batali (a big named chef)has a restaurant in Westchester County and I’m just checking it out.. I guess i’m late. However, I’m glad I finally got to sit and enjoy a great meal in this lil Portchester eatery.
Great wine selection.. I love a bottle of red wine along with my Italian food.I highly suggest the Clam, Garlic, Chilis, and Oregano Pizza.. the crust reminded me of Burratta’s in Eastchester (my fav pizza place in Westchester). The service was excellent along with everything that was served. I had to order the Creamy burata with butternut squash and Walnut Pesto (Burrata is bae)!.. .
The big hit of the night for me was the Pollo Francese with Artichokes and Capers.
Pollo Francese is one of my fav go to dishes. I am always a lil leery of ordering it because it seems to be a hit or miss dish. It’s Chicken cutlet in a wine, lemon, and butter sauce and sometimes restaurants can get a lil crazy with the lemon. The chicken was incredibly tender and the sauce it was in was just perfect! I loved it.
For desert we had Tiramisu and ended our night with after dinner dranks at the quaint lil bar. After doing some research I came across that this restaurant was once a speak easy, and a dive bar.
They are also open for Lunch and they serve Brunch on the Weekends! They are also participating in HVRW this Fall.

What I stuffed my face with:
Mofongo: OMG I’m a big fan of PR cuisine. One of My fav dishes is Mofongo (mashed green plantain (tostone) with garlic.. This one was delicious with fried pork and drizzle of spicy chipotle sauce on top.
Ramen Burger: A yummy burger with a ramen noodle in place of a bun with soy sauce…i had to try it and I’m glad I did.. very tasty..
Doughnut from Dough: I’m not a big doughnut person but I make an exception for Dough.
Thai inspired Rolled Ice cream from Roll and Chill.. made on the spot.
C Bao Asian Buns.. pork chicken and duck bao buns .. yum
Other things I wanted but was too stuffed to eat:
Sober Papusas: Because I have never had a Pupusa and I’m eager to try one.
Big Mozz Pizza and Mozzarella sticks
Wowfulls.. These fully loaded waffles look amazing
Rainbow Drop Cake this jelly cake made from gelatin looks pretty interesting.
Looking to get away to the Italian Coast without leaving NYC? Look no further than the beachy Sabbia (means sand in English) located in Eataly. Follow the Parasols to the retractable rooftop bar/restaurant that is transformed to resemble the Mediterranean and Atlantic coast. This is a pop up restaurant around until October where Gelato carts, an oyster bar, and retractable roof set the mood in this upper scale eatery. Extensive beer, wine, and cocktail list. I went with a Rose Wine Spritzer along with Formaggi, you can choose 3 for $13 or 5 for $16 served with an apricot mostarda (sort of like a marmalade). Many dishes to choose from ..Seafood, Meat, and Vegetarian options all available. We started with The Gambaretti alla Bagnara seared shrimp, oregano, parsley, garlic, and lemon. I ordered the Tagliata DiManzo which was a grilled Wagyu bohemian steak with Arugula and Parmigiano Reggiano. My date ordered the Polpa all Griglia, grilled octopus with cannellini beans! After your meal you can shop in Eataly’s market. They conveniently are on Opentable for online reservations.
