Pregnant and Fab?

Here’s a personal, emotional post ..

26 weeks pregnant 🤰 And Single …

Not too many people talk about this ..but it happens ..quite often.

1 in 4 children under the age of 18 are being raised without a father. 4 out of 10 children are born to unwed mothers.

But what’s a girl to do ..feel ashamed .. conceal my bump ..

Maybe Wear a fake wedding band while pretending my “husband” is thrilled that I’m carrying his lil girl .. when inquiring minds ask (like my 80 year old patients)

No I’m pregnant and I’m Single..

did I plan this .. No

Is the father thrilled ..No quite the contrary

Am I going to doctors appointments and ultrasounds alone.. yes

However, I’m thrilled ..scared but thrilled . Being pregnant And carrying a child is a blessing and not every women can do it.

I have my days, I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night and think to myself what the hell was I thinking getting myself into this.

And, i have had people questioning me as why I did not decide to terminate it, since I’m not in the ideal situation. (Including the dad)

Is it tough ..of course

And a lot of times I act braver than I actually am.

But, it’s fine and it’s normal for my emotions to be all over the place .

But in a few months I’ll have a beautiful baby girl to hold, and nothing else will matter.

Dekalb market – BK

The Dekalb Market in Brooklyn is super cool. It’s kind of like an indoor Smorgasbord.

As soon as you take the escalator down you see the famous Kats Deli. 😍<< ey also have a Fortina located in the Hall. Lots of choices so I had to narrow down my options. After a quick walk around this is what I chose: Potato Pierogis @ the Pierogi Boys topped with sour cream bacon and scallions ..cuz everything is better with bacon. 🥓 I've had my share of pierogis since my mom is full blown polish. But, these pierogis are super fresh and in a league of their own. Boiled to perfection. 👌 Icecream from Ample Hills Creamery 🍦 ooooey gooooey buttercake deliciousness. The word butter cake says it all! I was so tempted to take home a pint of it. However, we had a long drive home and I was afraid it would melt. Arepas de choclo from Arepa Lady came highly recommended. This was the main reason I stopped to try one. The corn tortilla and cheese melts in your 👄 mouth! Extremely filling ! Staff was super helpful and friendly!

I went into a food coma on my way home. 🏡😴

SightSeein in San Fran 🚃👯

I have been wanting to check out San Francisco, California for some time now.

I’m always looking to explore new places.

After researching best places to  visit in November, San Fran came up!

We were a lil worried due to the fact that fire and devastation hit Napa and Sonoma this October.

However, it worked out just fine and they need tourists more now than ever. And here we are. 👯🍷☀️🚃

Sonoma Wine Tour: We booked a last minute tour thru our hotel. We were picked up right from our hotel and drove into Sausilito which looked like beautiful town to stay in. We stopped at two wineries, Jacuzzi Winery and Homewood Winery that included genorous tastings. We had beautiful views of the Sonoma vineyards, and we got to hang out in each winery for awhileWe stayed in Hotel Zephyr, a cute boutique hotel located in Fisherman’s Wharf.

Fisherman’s Wharf is a great place to stay since you are close to Pier 39 which has a lot of shops and restaurants. There are quite a few seafood restaurants to choose from.

They are known for their New England Clam Chowder and fresh seafood. We had a delicious meal at PierMarket.

At Pier 39, you can also take a cruise to check out Alcatraz and the Golden State Bridge.

Pier 39 also has a hang out spot for Seals where you can see them lounge  and hear them “bark”.

Mr Holmes Bakehouse 1042 Larkin St

San Francisco, CA 94109

I got baked in San Francisco. They are known for their cronuts.  A croissant mixed with a powdered sugar 🍩 donut! Yum ! It’s a tiny space but be sure to get your pic in front of the neon “I just got baked” sign. They close at 2:30pm so be sure to get there early!

food in San Francisco.

I had the spaghetti 🍝 it was soooo fresh and tasty.

Simple and Al dente with fresh basil just how I like it.

As good if not better than Scarpetta! (another fav of mine)

Make reservations they get pretty busy! They also have Pizzeria Delfina next door!Tonga Room and Hurricane Bar

950 Mason St

San Francisco, CA 94108

Once I saw the pictures of a live band on a floating boat/stage in a lagoon I knew I had to check this bar/restaurant out. Located inside The Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco. Offering Polynesian- Fusion cuisine, Mai Tai’s, and of course pina colada’s. You don’t come here for the food you come here for the experience. FYI they do not take reservations if you aren’t a guest of the hotel. Golden Gate Bridge: There are several ways to view and take pics of The Golden Gate Bridge. We took a cruise out to the bridge which was pretty cool. We went right up to it and got incredible shots. We also were able to get a clear view of Alcatraz. We also took an uber out to Golden Gate look out. I hear fog can be a problem. However, we got lucky and the fog did not disrupt our view at all. The famous Full House House ( I am a 80’s baby)and The Painted Ladies: Gorgeous Victorian houses painted in lovely pastel colors.

I also visited Chinatown where I ate Dim Sum and shopped around for cheap souvenirs.

Try to get a ride on a old school cable car if you can. The wait can exceed an hour!

Have you been to San Francisco ? What are some of your favorite things to do and eat there?

This is a perfect Treat Yo Self’ gift. Fred and Far Self Love Pinky Ring.. I love these lil rings so much and I love the message behind it. It comes with a lil card that comes with a pledge to love yourself. It’s a beautiful ring that has an upside down triangle lab created stone. You can choose from sterling silver, yellow gold, or rose gold. If you love yourself put a ring on it. This is my first holiday being single ..pretty much ever. This product is big on Self love and self worth which a lot of women struggle with.

They also have a sale going on. No promo code needed.

Love Me Some Philly

I have made several trips out to Philly over the past few years. It’s close to NYC and it is truly a Foodie’s Paradise.

I tried a new spot out this time and went for Sonny’s to get my Philly Cheese steaks

Old City Beergarden that stood out on the street with a cool outdoor seating area and bar to grab a cold one on a hot day. They provide giant checkers, and bean bag toss for you to entertain yourself with.

Fortina In YO

After eyeing Christian Petroni (chef and co-owner of Fortina’s) Instagram I was very happy to see a new location opening in Yonkers, NY (My hometown). It’s located in North Yonkers.. off North Broadway (behind the Apple Bees). They are revamping the area. A plush Blow is opening as well as a Taco Project..

Anyway, back to Fortina.. I was making dinner plans to head to the Stamford, CT location to get my fix. However, I received a last min invite to a soft opening in  Yonkers!!!! So best believe I was there..

They have Great parking! The building is super cool in an old industrial building. They did a great job on the inside. Lots of exposed brick and Grafitti/street art gives it a really hip vibe. You totally don’t feel like you are in Yonkers or in a Pizza restaurant. The servers and the staff are so attentive and friendly. I have yet to be in any other restaurant with such cool staff. It has a great open concept where you can see what is going on in the kitchen and bar area.

The food!! Their goal was for the food to taste as ahhhmazing at the other 3 locations and they have succeeded. The food is just as delicious as the other fabulous locations.

Wine and cocktails are top notch (same menu).

Pasta is perfectly al dente just how I like it!

Garlic bread is crusty and cheesy just how it should be with a side of Marinara.

The cannoli is stuffed with a surpirse (nutella). I find it to be much more heavenly tasting than the ones on Arthur Ave and Lil Italy.

Since it was the soft opening, the man himself Christian Petroni was there making the rounds. I got to chat him up a bit about his latest creation Fortina in Yonkers. He was giving us a rundown on the space and talking about the big garden that is going to be outside with a wood burning hearth. He has been a hard guy to get a hold of between this new project, the new Brooklyn location, and of course the birth of his first born child. He is such a great, friendly, and charismatic guy that you can’t help but want good things to happen for him.

Have you checked out Fortina in Yonkers yet ?!

They are officially open!
