Lomo Saltado

Anyone who knows me knows about my obsession with Pio Pio in NYC. I love their Lomo!! However, since I do live a good 45 minutes now from the city I figured I should try to learn how to make it myself for a quick fix. 


Filet mignon (preferred) or any cut steak you prefer

White rice

2 tablespoon Soy sauce 

1/4 cup White vinegar

French fries(frozen or cut potatoe)

1/2 Red or white onion 

2 Tomatoes


Avocado (optional)

Salt and pepper 

1. Cook the rice: I cook mine by taking two tablespoons of canola oil and heating it up in a sauce pan with two tablespoons of garlic. Don’t let the garlic burn ! Add two cups of rice and stir. Let cook for a few minutes stirring over medium heat. Then add 4 cups of water and bring to a boil. Let boil until some water has evaporated and you can see the top of the rice. Cover and lower heat and simmer until water has completely evaporated.

2.Cut steak into strips along with 1 onion and 2 tomatoes


3.Deep Fry or bake your french fries

4.Season steak with salt and pepper. Stir fry the steak until almost done. Not completely. Remove steak from pan leaving juice. Throw in onion cook for a minute then add tomatoes, 1/4 cup white vinegar , 2 tbsp of soysauce, (depending on taste) french fries, and steak. Simmer for a minute or two. Serve with white rice, avocado and a sprinkle of parsley !👌
