Every year for my birthday I try to find a cool restaurant that has great food and ambiance. I came across Tony at the J’s in Greenwich , CT. It is located inside a boutique hotel in Greenwich. There is free valet parking. Reservations can be made on Opentable. Service is excellent and during our stay Tony himself came around asking trivia questions which made it fun! The garden area patio dining is gorgeous. Lush greenery everywhere 🌱 it makes you feel like you are on vacation. We started off with cocktails and then ordered scallops off of the specials. Our waitress called them decadent, and that was what they were they literally melted in your mouth. It came with a side of risotto in a Cream sauce that had me and my girls scraping the plate. For our entrees the three of us got The lobster 🦞 special. A 21/2 pound 🦞 in butter, oils, and herbs 🤤. We shared truffle fries 🍟 too! I would def go back I hear their steaks and pasta are also amazing.
Two weeks ago CT started having out door dining at selected restaurants that can accommodate outdoor seating and all the safety guidelines provided by the state to open.
I decided to check out Stamford, CT since it is the closest to me and I’m the most familiar with. Tables are outside 6feet apart and wait staff wear masks and gloves.
It was great to be out again and it felt normal to be out dining again. It still isn’t very busy at these restaurants because people are still reluctant to go out. However, I felt safe and enjoyed my time at CoalHouse Pizza which opened up outdoor seating and beer garden in their parking lot. The pizza at Coalhouse was delicious and so were the drinks. The wait staff was also top notch friendly and professional. They are also dog friendly and have a big beer list .
I also hit up Taco Daddy where I have been wanting to go to since way before COVID happened. They had a really cute outdoor setup with string lights and colorful wall art and a taco daddy neon sign. Service was great ..drinks were great too. King pao tacos and lomo Salvado tacos were delicious 🌮.The plaintains with a side of crema were very tasty too. I had margaritas that were great and strong af. They were very accommodating and made me a watermelon margarita. 🍉 🍹
There are a lot more restaurants that provide outdoor dining in Connecticut. I hoping to explore Greenwich and Norwalk too.
Gitano in NYC is a pop up restaurant inspired by Gitano Tulum in Mexico. Their idea was to bring the Tulum Jungle to the Concrete Jungle of NYC.
Make reservations via OpenTable or else you will have a long wait to even get in the place!
When I stepped inside Gitano I felt like I was on vacation. I was surrounded by lush palm trees 🌴 and beautiful people.
We sat by the bar which has a big disco bar at the center of it.
We ordered the:
Jungle Fever 😝 consists of Gem and Bolt, chili, lime, and cilantro. It had a great kick to it. 🌶
Gitano Margarita Montelobos, lime, cucumber, and rosemary. It was very refreshing. 🥒
We ordered the Guacamole which was very tasty and fresh.
The special of the night was Carne Asada. It was extremely tasty 🥩 with chimichurri sauce and shishito peppers 🌶
There are several seating areas spread throughout the restaurant and garden area where you can sit, drink, and lounge. It starts getting very loungey in the evening. Lots of people hanging out and sipping on cocktails.
I was in desperate need of a vacay. So I headed out to Miami for some fun in the sun. Perrrect Weather awaited me in South Florida. We stayed at the Eden Roc hotel after a coworker told me how amazing it was. I agree. 🌊 Ocean view balcony with spacious rooms and friendly check in made the trip seamless. We did not rent a car so we Ubered everywhere .. 🚗uber everywhere 🚗
A few of my fav places i visited on my trip to Miami..
For My Love of Latin food I checked out:
Versailles ..Excellent Cuban restaurant in Lil Havana 🌴 They boast that they are the worlds most famous Cuban restaurant. I was given this recommendation from Dr. Rodriguez fellow foodie and Latino! (ha!)The churasco was excellent and so was the Cuban sandwich 😋 This restaurant gets very busy but the line to sit and eat moves quickly! So don’t let that discourage you from trying this place out. FYI not much English is spoken here so brush up on your espanol.
For Culture :
Wynwood Walls 🎨 Free admission 🎨🌴Here you Stroll around and admire the grafitti and street art splattered across the wynwood walls. Street and Grafitti Artists from all over the globe 🌎 have their art displayed here.
For a fabulous dinner:
Lure Fish 🐟 Bar located inside The Loews Hotel .. Amazing dranks and Sushi! Yes Bae got me into Sushi 🍣 Crispy Rice Cakes were amazing and so was the Lazy Lobster Special (lobster off the shell). There’s a location in NYC too! A bit pricey but def worth the splurge.
For a Drank:
Broken Shaker Bar located inside the freehand hotel. They have a large outdoor sitting area to enjoy a cocktail. Great Ambiance and no cover charge. 🍹 I had the walk down Alameda. 🍸 They also serve food if you are looking for a bite to eat with your drank. Click here for menu

Yard 🐦 Bird Southern Table and Bar in Miami has to be one of my favorite Brunch spots. This is a very popular place! However, we got lucky and we were seated outside pretty quickly. The Fried Chicken 🍗 Spicy Watermelon 🍉 and Cheddar Waffles 😋 for two was ahhhmazing. The Eggs Benedict was also a big hit. 🍳 The poached egg was crumbled with a biscuit and bacon 🥓 😍. Let’s not forget the cocktails 🍹 I had a tipsy debutante monster because I liked the name of the drink and I like tequila 💃 My bf got a Bloody Mary with bacon 🥓 in it !They are located at:

I made a Last minute decision to check out Cellar 49 in Tarrytown, NY for HVRW… and I’m sooo glad I did . Food and service is top notch 👌🏻
Reservation booked on OpenTable.
This restaurant is a hidden gem. It is located on the grounds of the Tarrytown House Estate 🏡 As I walked down the stairs to a wooden door entrance and sat at the bar…I def got a speak easy vibe. Which I love ❤️. It was the “original” Cellar in the historic Biddle Mansion.
I started with the Truffle Burrata. It was drizzled in balsamic with pistachios and flatbread on the side. Delicious!
🍽For Entree I chose the Flat Iron Steak that was cooked perfectly . It was paired with mashed potatoes and charred asparagus in a savory sauce. It was so tasty and one of the best steaks I have had in a while!
🍰The Dessert was a toffee almond cheesecake drizzled with caramel😋 (the main reason I chose this restaurant). It was heavenly!
Everything was so amazing..I definitely recommend trying this place out. They have a three course pre-fix menu year round Mon-Thurs.

Mario Batali (a big named chef)has a restaurant in Westchester County and I’m just checking it out.. I guess i’m late. However, I’m glad I finally got to sit and enjoy a great meal in this lil Portchester eatery.
Great wine selection.. I love a bottle of red wine along with my Italian food.I highly suggest the Clam, Garlic, Chilis, and Oregano Pizza.. the crust reminded me of Burratta’s in Eastchester (my fav pizza place in Westchester). The service was excellent along with everything that was served. I had to order the Creamy burata with butternut squash and Walnut Pesto (Burrata is bae)!.. .
The big hit of the night for me was the Pollo Francese with Artichokes and Capers.
Pollo Francese is one of my fav go to dishes. I am always a lil leery of ordering it because it seems to be a hit or miss dish. It’s Chicken cutlet in a wine, lemon, and butter sauce and sometimes restaurants can get a lil crazy with the lemon. The chicken was incredibly tender and the sauce it was in was just perfect! I loved it.
For desert we had Tiramisu and ended our night with after dinner dranks at the quaint lil bar. After doing some research I came across that this restaurant was once a speak easy, and a dive bar.
They are also open for Lunch and they serve Brunch on the Weekends! They are also participating in HVRW this Fall.

Looking for another Mario Batali restaurant that is amazing?! I mentioned this restaurant several times in my older blog posts.Try Lupa Osteria In NYC. Get the Bucatini All’ Amatriciana and the Tartufo. You won’t be disappointed!
My friend Kevin is always raving about this place! The Meatball shop. A quaint lil eatery with friendly wait staff. They have a few locations. I went to the one on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Delicious cocktails .. always a big plus..I tried the Watermelon Margarita and the Gin Fizz. The menu is pretty much a dry erase board.. You grab a black marker and mark off the type of balls you want.. Classic Beef, Chicken, Veggie, Pork, or the Daily Special they have listed that day. Then you pick the type of sauce. Pesto, Creamy Parmesan, Classic Tomato, Spicy meat or the daily special. You can have your side or veggie under the sauce or on the side separately. Sautéed broccoli, rigatoni, spaghetti, mashed potatoes .. so many yummy options. They also have sliders and sandwiches which I’m looking to try on my next visit there.
Sunday Bear Mountain brunch at Restaurant 1915, which was named after the year the restaurant was opened. Waay Back in the day! This is my first time at Bear Mountain aside from going to their Oktoberfest.
It’s Reasonably priced at 34.99 pp with unlimited Mimosas/Bloody Mary’s, coffee, tea, juice, or soda . Bring the fam..Kids aged 5-12 are $16, and children 4 and under are free. Sunday Brunch runs from 11am-3pm. Reservations are recommended. You can book on Opentable.
Very scenic lodge overlooking bear mountain grounds with large windows in the dining area to take it all in. We sat right in front of the fireplace with a mounted moose head. I can only imagine in the winter how cozy it will be with a roaring fireplace.
There is so much variety to choose from. It’s buffet style. There is a seafood display with raw oysters and shrimp cocktail, a carving station serving roast beef and spiral ham, a omelet station, waffle station, fresh fruit, traditional breakfast foods, pastries, bagels, dessert, and so much more…
