Gitano NYC

Gitano in NYC is a pop up restaurant inspired by Gitano Tulum in Mexico. Their idea was to bring the Tulum Jungle to the Concrete Jungle of NYC.

Make reservations via OpenTable or else you will have a long wait to even get in the place!

When I stepped inside Gitano I felt like I was on vacation. I was surrounded by lush palm trees 🌴 and beautiful people.

We sat by the bar which has a big disco bar at the center of it.

Cocktails 🍹

We ordered the:

Jungle Fever 😝 consists of Gem and Bolt, chili, lime, and cilantro. It had a great kick to it. 🌶

Gitano Margarita Montelobos, lime, cucumber, and rosemary. It was very refreshing. 🥒

Food

We ordered the Guacamole which was very tasty and fresh.

The special of the night was Carne Asada. It was extremely tasty 🥩 with chimichurri sauce and shishito peppers 🌶

There are several seating areas spread throughout the restaurant and garden area where you can sit, drink, and lounge. It starts getting very loungey in the evening. Lots of people hanging out and sipping on cocktails.

Miami

I was in desperate need of a vacay. So I headed out to Miami for some fun in the sun. Perrrect Weather awaited me in South Florida. We stayed at the Eden Roc hotel after a coworker told me how amazing it was. I agree. 🌊 Ocean view balcony with spacious rooms and friendly check in made the trip seamless. We did not rent a car so we Ubered everywhere .. 🚗uber everywhere 🚗

A few of my fav places i visited on my trip to Miami..

For My Love of Latin food I checked out:

Versailles ..Excellent Cuban restaurant in Lil Havana 🌴  They boast that they are the worlds most famous Cuban restaurant. I was given this recommendation from Dr. Rodriguez fellow foodie and Latino! (ha!)The churasco was excellent and so was the Cuban sandwich 😋 This restaurant gets very busy but the line to sit and eat moves quickly! So don’t let that discourage you from trying this place out. FYI not much English is spoken here so brush up on your espanol.

For Culture :

Wynwood Walls 🎨 Free admission 🎨🌴Here you Stroll around and admire the grafitti and street art splattered across the wynwood walls. Street and Grafitti Artists from all over the globe 🌎 have their art displayed here.

For a fabulous dinner:

Lure Fish 🐟 Bar located inside The Loews Hotel .. Amazing dranks and Sushi! Yes Bae got me into Sushi 🍣 Crispy Rice Cakes were amazing and so was the Lazy Lobster Special (lobster off the shell). There’s a location in NYC too! A bit pricey but def worth the splurge.

For a Drank:

Broken Shaker Bar located inside the  freehand hotel. They have a large outdoor sitting area to enjoy a cocktail. Great Ambiance and no cover charge.  🍹 I had the walk down Alameda. 🍸 They also serve food if you are looking for a bite to eat with your drank. Click here for menu

2727 Indian Creek Dr., Miami Beach, FL 33140 | 305-531-2727

For Brunch:

Yard 🐦 Bird Southern Table and Bar in Miami has to be one of my favorite Brunch spots. This is a very popular place! However, we got lucky and we were seated outside pretty quickly. The Fried Chicken 🍗 Spicy  Watermelon 🍉 and Cheddar Waffles 😋 for two was ahhhmazing. The Eggs Benedict was also a big hit. 🍳 The poached egg was crumbled with a biscuit and bacon 🥓 😍.  Let’s not forget the cocktails 🍹 I had a tipsy debutante monster because I liked the name of the drink and I like tequila 💃 My bf got a Bloody Mary with bacon 🥓 in it !They are located at:

Cellar 49- Spring HVRW 2017

I made a Last minute decision to check out Cellar 49 in Tarrytown, NY for HVRW… and I’m sooo glad I did . Food and service is top notch 👌🏻

Reservation booked on OpenTable

This restaurant is a hidden gem. It is located on the grounds of the Tarrytown House Estate 🏡 As I walked down the stairs to a wooden door entrance and sat at the bar…I def got a speak easy vibe. Which I love ❤️. It was the “original” Cellar in the historic Biddle Mansion.

I started with the Truffle Burrata. It was drizzled in balsamic with pistachios and flatbread on the side. Delicious!

🍽For Entree I chose the Flat Iron Steak that was cooked perfectly . It was paired with mashed potatoes and charred asparagus in a savory sauce. It was so tasty and one of the best steaks I have had in a while!

🍰The Dessert was a toffee almond cheesecake drizzled with caramel😋 (the main reason I chose this restaurant). It was heavenly!

Everything was so amazing..I definitely recommend trying this place out. They have a three course pre-fix menu year round Mon-Thurs.

Tarry lodge – A Mario Batali Restaurant in Westchester

tarrylodge

Mario Batali (a big named chef)has a restaurant in Westchester County and I’m just checking it out.. I guess i’m late. However, I’m glad I finally got to sit and enjoy a great meal in this lil Portchester eatery.

clampizzaburrata

Great wine selection.. I love a bottle of red wine along with my Italian food.I highly suggest the Clam, Garlic, Chilis, and Oregano Pizza.. the crust reminded me of Burratta’s in Eastchester (my fav pizza place in Westchester). The service was excellent along with everything that was served. I had to order the  Creamy burata with butternut squash and Walnut Pesto (Burrata is bae)!.. . burrata

The big hit of the night for me was the Pollo Francese with Artichokes and Capers.

chickenfrancese

Pollo Francese is one of my fav go to dishes.  I am always a lil leery of ordering it because it seems to be a hit or miss dish. It’s Chicken cutlet in a wine, lemon, and butter sauce and sometimes restaurants can get a lil crazy with the lemon. The chicken was incredibly tender and the sauce it was in was just perfect! I loved it.

tiramisu

For desert we had Tiramisu and ended our night with after dinner dranks at the quaint lil bar. After doing some research I came across that this restaurant was once a speak easy, and a dive bar.

They are also open for Lunch and they serve Brunch on the Weekends! They are also participating in HVRW this Fall.

Meatball Shop on the West Side

image

My friend Kevin is always raving about this place! The Meatball shop. A quaint lil eatery with friendly wait staff. They have a few locations. I went to the one on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Delicious cocktails .. always a big plus..I tried the Watermelon Margarita and the Gin Fizz. The menu is pretty much a dry erase board.. You grab a black marker and mark off the type of balls you want.. Classic Beef, Chicken, Veggie, Pork, or the Daily Special they have listed that day. Then you pick the type of sauce. Pesto, Creamy Parmesan, Classic Tomato, Spicy meat or the daily special. You can have your side or veggie under the sauce or on the side separately. Sautéed broccoli, rigatoni, spaghetti, mashed potatoes .. so many yummy options. They also have sliders and sandwiches which I’m looking to try on my next visit there.

Very scenic lodge overlooking bear mountain grounds with large windows in the dining area to take it all in. We sat right in front of the fireplace with a mounted moose head. I can only imagine in the winter how cozy it will be with a roaring fireplace.

image

There is  so much variety to choose from. It’s buffet style. There is a seafood display with raw oysters and shrimp cocktail, a carving station serving roast beef and spiral ham, a omelet station, waffle station, fresh fruit, traditional breakfast foods, pastries, bagels, dessert, and so much more…

Burrata

I had the pleasure of chatting with Chas Anderson chef/owner of Burrata in Eastchester, NY.  The doors opened in 2012 when he was only 27 years old! Not your typical pizza parlor. It’s My fav local eatery! Their wood fired pizza is like no other.. Their Spaghetti is up there with Scott Conant’s. Everything I have ever tasted has been nothing but ahhmazing here.

image

Buratta’s Bar

Chas Anderson was warm, friendly and I’m glad I chose him for my first lil restaurant meet up. He has a strong passion for  food and his restaurant. He only uses the freshest ingredients, regardless of cost and you can def taste it. He pretty much came out of the womb cooking, and worked his way up to running a very successful restaurant  in Westchester County.

image

Chas Anderson Chef/Owner

Of course I couldn’t just go to Burrata and not eat, so I feasted while we talked.

I asked him for his fave pizza on the menu and he offered up the J. Sexton No. 2.. It has a great story behind it’s name. There was a food critic from Westchester Magazine named J. Sexton who came and ate pizza that had cooked burrata cheese on it. She wrote in her review that  Burrata cheese is not meant to be cooked, it should be in its original form..since it is such a sexy and rich cheese.  So, he took this criticism and made a new pie out of it and named it after her (with her permission  but who wouldn’t want a pizza named after them?!).

Simple ingredients: Chilled Burrata, San Marzano tomato, garlic, raw basil, extra virgin olive oil, black pepper, and Parmigiano. It was beyond delicious. I did very much enjoy the chilled buratta on my pizza.

That crust tho…

Where the Magic Happens

He  told me his favorite Pizza Place in NYC is Company “in Chelsea ” which I now have to try!

He also taught me a new word Stracciatella which means “rag,” from the Italian word “strattore” (to stretch). This soft, fresh cheese may be best known as the yummy center of Buratta

spaghetti

Spaghetti is Bae

After I confessed my love for his Spaghetti, he wanted me to try the Short Rib Agnolotti. The Short Rib Agnolotti is in a brown butter sauce with aged balsamic, piave cheese, and toasted bread crumbs (Yum). Honestly, it is not something I would ever think of ordering , but I’m so glad he mentioned it. The toasted breadcrumbs and brown butter was a perfect addition to this pasta dish. The short rib was tender, and extremely tasty.

Short Rib Agnolotti

Of course you have to save room for something sweet. The Affogato with the house made gelato is delicious and so are the Zeppoles. They are the two top sellers and I have personally indulged in, and loved them both(worth the calories)! All desserts are made in-house.

Great Cocktails! My fave on their menu is the El Diablo. I like it spicy. You also can’t go wrong with their extensive wine list.

They  have  a Great Lunch Special Mon-Thurs $10 for soup or salad and a pizza!

Got Wood?

He offered for me to follow him back into the kitchen on my next visit  to cook a lil something up.  So.. stay tuned!

GIF Videobooth’s In NYC

Photo booth’s are a thing of the past. Let’s kick our selfie game up a  notch. The new trending thing recently are Video Booth’s (GIF)..so what’s better than taking your own 5-6 second mini video clip when you are out partying in the city.. You can easily type in your email address for you to have and share.

I first spotted the video booth when I was out to dinner this February at Vandal NYC. It is located in the bar lounge area. We found it after exploring the new space . The background is a perfect setting filled with graffiti covered walls.

Vandal , 199 Bowery  New York, NY 10002

Then I saw it again in Beauty and Essex’s Pawn shop. This background has guitars hanging on the walls. Click  for my movie clips. Me and my friends always get a kick out of it. You will get some people in the background wanting to photobomb you.

Beauty & Essex, 146 Essex St   New York, NY 10002

I hear Catch in the Meatpacking district has a video booth on their rooftop too! I have yet to check Catch out but it’s def on my summer to do list!

Catch,  199 9th ave   New York, NY 10014

I’m all about it! I hope to see more restaurants/bars using this feature! It’s all about having fun and being silly with your friends. And you get to have a lil memory of your night.
